Keeping learning safe, even when the storm hits!
A powerful storm rolled through the area, uprooted trees and damaged the underground power feed serving a local Montessori school including the connected ADU. With classrooms scheduled to open and young children expected on site, restoring safe and reliable power became urgent.
Witherell Design and Consult responded immediately.
Our team coordinated an emergency temporary power hookup, ensuring the school could open safely and on time despite the outage. Safety was our top priority—not only for the children and staff, but also for the homeowner and surrounding property.
Following the incident, to prevent future outages and improve long-term reliability, PG&E required the underground feeders to be relocated to a new vault and new transformer, along with new feeders and a new electrical service at the school.
To support this process, our crew cleared surrounding bushes and trees and secured the temporary power installation using bull lines, keeping everything stable and code-compliant while underground boring was completed.
Once PG&E completes the new vault, transformer, and pulls the new underground feeders, we will complete the project by installing and connecting the new permanent service, providing reliable power to both the Montessori school and the ADU.
